Stepping into Young King 연경 feels like entering a cherished neighborhood staple that has quietly held its ground through the years. Nestled on a bustling stretch of Olympic Boulevard in Koreatown, this unpretentious Chinese restaurant welcomes you with the subtle hum of conversations and the comforting aroma of simmering broths and stir-fries.

The interior is straightforward, with hints of old-school charm that invite you to focus less on frills and more on the genuine experience unfolding around you.
Here, the menu feels like a bridge between culinary tradition and personal memory. These are dishes that invite slow savoring, easily paired with a pot of tea and the casual clink of soju glasses among friends.
Young King 연경’s appeal lies not only in its flavors but in its steadiness — a place where comfort is found in familiar favorites, and the energy shifts effortlessly from lunchtime chatter to the more relaxed, filled tables of evening. One of the few original mom/pop restaurants left in Koreatown. Been eating here since childhood and the food remains on point, just how I remember it every time. Whether it's your first or 100th time here- (간)짜장면, 짬뽕, 탕수육, 깡뽕새우 are a must! Dine-in highly recommended, it's worth the wait.

I came here for the first time after getting several recommendations, and wow — this is truly the No.1 spot in LA for jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk. The flavors are so authentic and perfectly done. The jjamppong has a great smoky wok aroma, and the broth is amazing. The interior is a bit old and simple, but once dinner time hits, the place fills up quickly. They also have large tables, so it’s a good spot for big families. Valet parking is $3, and there’s a parking lot in the back. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I’m craving jajangmyeon or jjamppong. Highly recommend!

First time dine in. I have to say that they serve one of the best Tangsuyook in US. So crunchy outside and tender inside. This menu alone will satisfy your appetite. We had a soju which goes well with our dishes. Jjajangmyun and jjambbong were average. Servers were very friendly with antique interior. Will go back to try other dishes for sure.

This is my family’s go to Chinese restaurant - food and service is great here. They always have a good pot of tea ready to be served. I recommend their Kung Pao shrimp, Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, and the black bean noodles. They have a wide range of seating options, large and small. There’s valet parking lot in the back.

I ordered beef jajangmyeon, but the staff said it would be salty if I put all the sauce in, so I didn't, but it's okay to put all of it in! And sweet and sour pork melts smoothly. The yaki dumplings were a bit greasy. It reminds me of Korea. It was delicious!

Update: Still the best!! Nostalgic when I visit this place. Their sweet and sour pork with sauce on the side was the best, is the best, and will perpetually be the best until the end of time!!!!! Then there is the best there ever was, is, and ever will be Young King Chinese Restaurant!!!!! Been coming here since I was 7 in 1987. First restaurant off the plane from LAX. 30+ years and still going strong!

I missed out on taking a photo, but their beef sweet and sour pork is top-tier ( tangsuyuk ). The uni-jajang sauce is served separately and very generously; there was still plenty of sauce left after finishing the noodles. It’s so good that I'd recommend mixing it with rice as well. Nurungji-tang was so good! Love that crispy and chewy combo.
